Effects of Cognitive-behavioral methods of stress management for workers

Abstract
This study intended to summarize employees¡¯ stress management techniques based on cognitive-behavioral treatment and to examine the results of precedent researches about their effect. It is well known that stress is a risk factor which has a great effect on the mental health. The response to stress can be either negative or positive depending on the way of
coping. Among the various personal level stress management techniques, all methods except for the medication are based on the principle of cognitive-behavioral intervention. They can be divided into strategies focusing problems and those focusing emotion. And these two responsive strategies are again divided into somatic management method and cognitive management method. Stress management methods most universally used are progressive muscle relaxation,
biofeedback. meditation, and cognition restructuring skill. Here we analyzed the effects, merits and demerits of each techniques. And also we considered the effects combined use of various therapies. The research results showed that stress management programs have especially great effect on high risky employees. It is urgent that we need to apply both scientific and culturally adaptive management programs to Korean workers.
